Your Career in Real Estate - Sources of Business

As discussed in an earlier article, networking is a phenomenal way to develop a list of prospects for your real estate business.
This article provides a breakdown of other possible sources of business and this list is by no means comprehensive:

Farming: Farming is a popular approach where you designate a particular geographic area and then proceed to market and promote your services to that grid. By continually marketing yourself to the constituents, you are building your personal brand to those home owners or individuals.

Cold Calling:
This technique involves pulling a telephone or hit list of individuals and then calling them on the phone to see if they are ready to relocate.

Open Houses:
This approach involves holding open houses for your own listings or for another agent. The open house serves two purposes, one to promote the property and two to generate potential buyers.

Web Site
: Your own personal web site can be a great source of business provided it provides relevant information for both buyers and sellers. The web site should be easy to find and it should be search engine optimized to ensure that it appears at the top of internet search results.

Newsletters:
Develop a monthly newsletter either electronically or hard copy that provides relevant information such as market statistics, recent sales and real estate related information.

Charity Work & Community Involvement:
Join a charity and get involved in the community and your name will be circulated.

Published Work:
See if you can submit a regular article to the community news that is real estate based. The article positions you as an expert and gets your name out in the public domain.

Assist Busy Agents:
If you are new to business, offer your services to the agents in your office that are very busy and you might be surprised how much they are willing to share. During vacation periods, make yourself available to assist those agents who need coverage during their time away.

You may know all of this already, and this article only scratches the surface of potential areas for generated new business for you. Be creative, be innovative, use technology especially the Internet and your business will grow quickly.

Great ideas for agents Brian, this is still a people business. That's one thing I like about the Tweet Meets, and other social get togethers that are beginning to come as a result of social networking for busness. I welcome you to visit http://mikebowler.net for some addition ideas for future posts.
